The Radial Approach

Cardiologists are increasingly finding easier and safer ways to address serious heart problems. For years, catheterization has been used as a minimally invasive method for both diagnostic and treatment procedures. Typically, this process involves the introduction of a catheter into the femoral artery, a major artery in the groin region that extends to the heart. However, heart doctors are increasingly using the radial artery, which resides in the wrist, for catheterization procedures. Patient comfort is a primary reason why the radial approach has become so popular. Catheterization via the femoral artery can necessitate hours of post-procedural bed rest. The radial approach involves a much lower risk of complications. In fact, many people who undergo catheterization with this technique can leave their heart center much faster and recover more quickly from their procedure and have fewer risks of adverse events.

Cardiac Solutions offers the radial approach to help promote the comfort of eligible patients. To learn more about the benefits of this technique, call (623) 208-5305. You can also visit our website for information on our heart clinics in Avondale, Glendale, Peoria, and Sun City West.
